Just How Gay Is the Right?

The NYTimes' Frank Rich just summed up the "culture war" in one sentence:

This is more than hypocrisy - it's pathology.

This isn't about "gay rights" folks.... Our obligation -- and I do mean that -- is to finally crush, and humilate this movement of hypocritical, sexually retarted, scat munching, sociopathic bigots who are so arrogant as to call themselves the "moral majority";  their goal is no less than deficating upon the world's oldest democracy with thier disgusting orgy of hypocrtical hate.  Our inability to stop this movement of hate mongering toddlers will one day be a mark of shame on all Americans. The tide must turn now. We, those of us who know that hate, ignorance, love of war, greed, and hypocracy go not only against the teachings of Jesus, but even our veru evolutionary heritage... where have we been?

If word's are my stones, than I guess, as Forest Gump once said, "Sometimes their just ain't enough stones..." Now, read Rich's column.

Once Again, Crazy Fundementalists Address "The American People":

"We, the members of UCAWWW, petition that the Internet (World Wide Web) creates nothing but harm in society today. The Internet is a cause for addiction and sin while taking away traditional family values. Our children are being exposed to filth that causes sexual tendencies and drug addiction. We therefore, demand that the internet be permanently banned from American homes. We MUST restore faith in God and steer clear of the devil!" - Undersigned by 1800 batshit crazy idiots

You know, I've thought about this a lot, and I think it needs to be said: If heaven is indeed populated with these televangelist-watching, "family values" chucking, ignorant, bigot, hypocritical, fundementalist idiots; I think -- given the choice -- I choose to go to hell over heaven. Sure, the pit of fire, torture chambers, and ice caves undoubtably get really old, really fast... but at least I won't have to spend eternity hearing the "beliefs", "values", and "ideas" of these annoying idiots.

Well, here's one way you could put "it"...

"This new perception on cell control mechanisms frees us from the limitations of genetic determinism. Rather than behaving as programmed genetic automatons, biological behavior is dynamically linked to the environment. Though this reductionist approach has highlighted the mechanism of the individual perception proteins, an understanding of the processing mechanism emphasizes the holistic nature of biological organisms. The expression of the cell reflects the recognition of all perceived environmental stimuli, both physical and energetic. Consequently, the "Heart of Energy Medicine" may truly be found in the magic of the membrane." - Dr. Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D. , Insight into Cellular "Consciousness"

Blog Redesign Underway

Sorry about that mess to left, folks. At the moment, I'm building an experiemental del.icio.us extension that will turn the left sidebar into a commondreams or Register(UK) like link portal. In addition, I'm designing a new theme that is less beefy and more stylish.

On a final note, I enjoy pretending that people actually read these ramblings, or care about what backend experiements I'm doing... Thanks for playing along.

Dan Gillmor & Grassroots Media Launch 1st Project

Dan Gillmor announces the birth of Bayosphere -- the first project of his startup, Grassroots Media Inc. Just as Cortez burned his ships upon reaching the new world, Dan appears to have abandoned his typepad blog, for a new drupal-powered blog that is within Bayosphere. Though Bayosphere is still in the "pre-launch" phase, I'm already seeing some encouraging signs. So far, Dan seems to not see his role as a leader, in the sense of him setting the direction, creating organizational structures, or setting up long lists of rules. Dan writes:

...I'll be one of many voices, including yours. I'm a host here, not The Editor. Communities have values; we'll have the kind that make this a place we want to share with visitors and each other.

Its a forgone conclusion that this experiment will be watched very closely by those who are hoping to capitilize on emergent journalism. I'm still not entirely convinced that citizen journalism will ever be able to operate on a for-profit model. Nevertheless, if anyone can succeed at this, its Gillmor. Its not that Dan has any special powers, or secret knowledge; rather, Dan simply has the rare skill of knowning how to listen. Unlike most of these startups, Dan is not creating an organization, and inviting people to participate. Rather, Dan appears to be inviting people to create an organization, and is offering resources to help make it happen. I cannot reiterate how encouraging of a sign that is. As the Dean campaign learned, the easiest path to power on the internet is, ironically, to give it up.

Regarding the UK Register's Otto Z. Stern

Over the course of the last month, I've had the unique privilege of making enemies with Otto Z. Stern, a columnist from the UK Register.

Stern once noted to his readers, “Your precious letters kept me from the brink of total disaster - that being the moment when I call my mother Greta to hear how superior I am than the rest of you in most ways. Okay, every way.”  How sweet of Otto to let us know how much he appreciates us… Since I’m bored, I’ve decided Otto Z. Stern deserves his own blog post here.

Stern is quite an interesting character. According to his blurb at the register, he lives in a solar powered compound in the Great American South West and is the director of “The Institute of Technological Values” - a think tank dedicated to the advancement of morality in our digital age. Of course, that’s all bullshit. Stern actually lives in Chicago, and his institute is nothing more than very funny satirical joke.  Most people are too dense to get it…

Anyhow, my conflict with the distinguished Dr. Stern[2] began a month ago when I wrote a blog post that was critical of one of his colleagues, Ashlee Vance. At the time, I was covering SXSW as the only blogger with press credentials (which basically just meant that strangers would occasionally see that I was wearing a press badge and decide they needed to sell themselves to me… and what else… oh, I got free coffee, and donuts too…)

ABC News Explains why MSM must Die

"Brides gotta run, planes gotta stray, and cable news networks gotta find a way to fill a lot of programming hours as cheaply as possible...We say with all the genuine apolitical and non-partisan human concern that we can muster that the death and carnage in Iraq is truly staggering. And/but we are sort of resigned to the Notion that it simply isn't going to break through to American news organizations, or, for the most part, Americans...What is hands down the biggest story every day in the world will get almost no coverage." - ABC news explaining why the most important stories just aren't newsworthy

Note: Oh... btw, bloggers lack credibility and responsibility. They could never take on the moral task of informing the public... sheesh...

Smokers Vs. American Lung Association

Sounds like a joke, right? The AP reports:

Smoking rights groups, bar owners and Libertarian political parties are taking aim at some major charities. They say the charities support smoking bans that threaten civil rights and small business.

The groups in nine states complain that charities such as the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association and American Heart Association use their lobbying power to help write state and local smoking bans.

You know, I'm no supporter of cancer. However, I happen to agree with those who are opposing the ACS, ALA, and AHA's recent campaign to get smoking banned in all public places. I have two reasons:

1. Its fine to ban smoking in just about every public place. But why do they have to go after bars? I mean, folks: we're talking BARS here. At the very least, I think they should give us one last place to keep our vices, and a bar seems as good of a place as another.

2. Clearly, this tactic is intended to setup a legal precedent to ban smoking all together. And, if you don't already know why that's a terrible idea, than you're not worth talking to.
